DESCRIPTION: Boston area banjo clock, C.1820, dial signed: No. 1837, A. Willard, Jr., Boston, weight driven, eight day with barbed hands, and with a bracket of the same period, currently detached.
CONDITION: a good old clock with restorations; the case has been re-gilded, and the lower tablet of Aurora has been copied by Tom Moburg from the original broken tablet, which is included with the lot {new tablet dated 1993}. Mr. Moburg also restored the back paint of the original throat glass. The movement has a standard bridge which was common for Aaron, Jr. It is also drilled for fillister screws, although is currently attached to the case with short screws. Movement is clean and ticking fine. Ht with associated bracket = 37", less bracket = 31"
